Apps of the Week: three great apps from November 30, 2019

  • by

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

FiLMiC Firstlight [Free]

FiLMiC Pro is a bit of a legend for those who film video seriously on their iPhones. Now the developers of that app have released FiLMiC Firstlight, which is their crack at making an impact in the iPhone photography market. It does so by offering film simulations, adaptive film grain, live analytics and intuitive swipe-based manual controls, all with the aim of giving you professional-standard results without having to spend hours in editing software.

Game of the Week

Saily Seas [Free]

The brand of endless runner gameplay featured in Saily Seas is really nothing new. We’ve seen this sort of rhythmic, undulating sprint to the right countless times before in the likes of Tiny Wings and Alto’s Adventure. But boy is Saily Seas pretty, all rolling polygonal seas and purple skies. There’s a cool float-and-fly control system to master as well, so there is still a little freshness sprinkled over its familiar form.

App Store Classic

1Password [Free]

You’ve doubtless experienced the joy and convenience of Apple’s iCloud Keychain on your iPhone, giving you speedy and secure access to your passwords, as well as unbreakable auto-password suggestions. But what if you also use a non-Apple platform somewhere along the line? That’s where a third party solution comes in handy, and 1Password is the cross-platform cream of the crop. If anything it’s more powerful, intuitive and flexible than Apple’s effort.
