Apple acquires analytics tech, could form part of Beats relaunch

Apple has acquired UK startup Semetric and its Musicmetric analytics tool. The technology is designed for music labels to track artist sales, as well as BitTorrent, YouTube and Spotify data. And it could become part of the Beats service.

Last year it was announced that Beats music would be integrated into iOS at some point in early 2015. Couple with this additional development, it could be a very exciting year for the Beats service, and gives Apple users some alternatives to the iTunes offerings.
