Cyber Monday Deals: last chance to snag a bargain

Black Friday may be dead and gone, but its online-only little sister Cyber Monday is here, showering us with even more tech deals.

On the one hand, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are both thinly-veiled marketing ploys to increase sales ahead of the holiday season. It’s worth exercising some cynicism when being blasted with offers from every side. That said, for many items – in particular gadgets, accessories, and even Apple products – it’s genuinely the best time of the year to buy or upgrade your tech.

Imagine how good you’ll feel if you get all your Christmas gifts sorted in the first week of December! So, let’s recap the best places to shop.

Apple Store

Apple typically doesn’t discount its products for Cyber Monday – or ever – but it’s still taking part in the fun with a four-day shopping event. Instead of offering money off, Apple is giving away gift cards of up to $200 that can be spent on other products in the Apple Store. It’s a sneaky way to encourage you to spend more money on Apple stuff, but if you’re planning to buy something soon anyway it’s a no-brainer to do it now!

You can get a $50 gift card when buying an iPhone, $100 for an iPad, and $200 for a Mac. Many other purchases like Apple Watch and AirPods come with gift cards, too. The catch? These offers mostly apply to last-generation devices – sadly there are no offers on the very latest models. But if you’re happy with last-gen technology, it’s a great way to stretch your money a little farther. Check out the available deals here on the Apple Store website.

Amazon

Amazon is the undisputed king of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It has thousands of deals and tends to price-match the best prices from around the web, so you can be sure you’re not missing out. The only thing it can be guilty of is promoting barely-discounted products alongside genuine bargains – it can be hard to know which is which!

That’s why we recommend you cross-reference the deals using trusted price-tracker camelcamelcamel.com to see how the Black Friday discounts hold up to historical sales. If a product is at an all-time low, you know it’s a good deal!

Amazon’s offerings change by the hour and differ by region, so your best bet is to get online and do some browsing yourself. You can find a full roundup of every Cyber Monday deal right here on Amazon’s website (or here if you’re in the UK). In particular, look out for blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Lightning deals which offer big discounts for limited periods.

Around the web

There’s no need to go fighting through crowds to get a good deal today. Pretty much all your favorite retailers are taking part in Cyber Monday to some degree. Some of the best deals we found on Black Friday are still valid for a few more hours – including Best Buy’s $500 discount on the iPhone 11 range when you trade in an old device, and $200 off the new MacBook Pro at B&H .

Anything else?

We mentioned earlier this week, but in case you missed it: this is perhaps the best time of year to improve your skills with the iPhone Photography School, or protect your privacy with a NordVPN subscription. We recommend both even at their regular price, but they’re extremely heavily discounted right now!

And of course, you’ll find a load of apps discounted on the App Store this weekend. Apple has compiled a list of its favorite app sales, which focuses on freemium apps with discount subscriptions – and we have our own list of the best premium app discounts of the weekend, many of which are still active now.
