Duracell rolls out wireless iPhone charging across US Starbucks

If your iPhone is running low on power you’ll now have the option to charge it at selected Starbucks stores in the US. Duracell has installed iPhone-compatible Powermats that will allow users to charge up by simply placing their device on them.

Before you can receive any power though you will need to place your iPhone in an “AccessCase” and they’re available for the 5s, 5, 4s, and 4. Sorry 3GS users, you’re out of luck.

According to Duracell, the Powermat is also good for the environment as they use less energy than traditional AC charging units. Adam Brotman, chief digital officer at Starbucks, spoke about the partnership and said:

“We are thrilled to offer our customers that next level of convenience with Powermat wireless charging. Rather than hunting around for an available power outlet, they can seamlessly charge their device while enjoying their favorite food or beverage offering right in our stores.”

The Powermats are currently being installed across the United States, starting in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can find out where the closet Powermat point is by checking the “Where can I recharge” map offered by Duracell.
