Since the release of iOS 11, we’ve noticed fewer apps than usual dropping their prices – in fact, fewer apps in general are released at this time of year. We expect these sales to pick up as Christmas approaches, but even after a relatively slow week we’ve got a pretty good deal to tell you about!
Our pick of the best free app of the week is Neo Monsters, a game of collecting and battling virtual creatures. There are over 1,000 varied monsters to capture and evolve, and a robust turn-based combat system that can be played online too.
With more than a passing resemblance to the world of Pokémon, this addictive game is sure to scratch the itch for fans of the series. Neo Monsters is an unashamed Pokémon clone and wears its influence on its sleeve, but it’s a slickly developed game in its own right. Nintendo has yet to bring a “proper” Pokémon game to iOS and so fans of the series keen to get their monster-collecting fix on the go can look here for the next best thing.
Though the app is currently free, you’ll want to watch out for in-app purchases. We’ve been assured the game can be finished without them, but as ever you can buy your way to better creatures with enough premium currency. While the game has no up-front cost, it’s the perfect time to dip your toes in and see if the world of Neo Monsters appeals to you.
