iTunes Pass: a new way to add credit to your account

Apple has just unveiled a new way to add credit to your iTunes account. iTunes Pass allows you to add money when visiting a physical Apple retail store.

As stated on the iTunes website, you simply need to open the iTunes Store app, head down to Redeem then tap this before talking to a store assistant. They will then open up Passbook where your new iTunes Pass will be waiting to be scanned by them and the amount you specify will be added to your account.

Having previously debuted in Japan in June 2014, the service came to the U.S. and Australia this week. The service will mean you no longer have to buy gift cards and enter a long number to gain extra credit. While most users have their account attached to a credit card this may be useful if topping up a child’s account or want to limit your personal spending each month.

There’s been no mention of it rolling out to other countries but we’d expect it to be made available soon. The website does state, however, that iTunes Pass is not available in Brazil, China, or Turkey.
