Leaked iPhone 7 photo reveals gold finish, new antenna bands, mystery sensor

Another day, another leaked photo purportedly showing the upcoming iPhone 7. This one shows a gold 4.7-inch version, seemingly confirming that it will differ from the 5.5-inch ‘Plus’ model in more than just size.

The image comes from Chinese blogging site Weibo, reports Mobipicker, which casts a little doubt on its authenticity. Still, it looks reasonably legit and certainly holds up with previous rumors. From the angle of the photo it’s impossible to tell if the headphone jack has been removed, or if the iPhone will utilize the new Smart Connector from the iPad Pro.

Could this be this year’s model?

However, if genuine, the leaked photo confirms a few things about the next generation iPhone: superficially, that it will be available in gold and will adjust the placement of the antenna bands to make them more subtle. It also shows an additional camera sensor in between the lens and the LED flash, possibly a new and improved autofocus module. Oh, and it doesn’t look like the bump around the camera lens is going anywhere soon.

We reported last week that Apple may further differentiate the regular and ‘Plus’ models with the iPhone 7 by giving the larger of the two additional features like dual camera lenses and increased RAM. Either way, the new devices are almost certain to launch this September.
