(PRODUCT)RED: new iPhone 8 color released for charity

Apple has just announced a special edition of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus with a stunning red finish.

The new coloration is part of Apple’s long-running (PRODUCT)RED campaign. As usual, a cut of proceeds from each sale will go towards Global Fund campaigns fighting HIV and AIDS. Apple has donated more than $160 million to the fund since it started selling red devices back in 2006.

Unlike last year’s special editions, this time the front panel is black instead of white, which we think blends much better with the bright red on the back and sides. It certainly makes a change from the previous options of silver, space gray, and gold!

If you’re due an upgrade, it’s definitely worth considering – a red iPhone will certainly stand out from the crowd, and you get to help a worthy cause at the same time.

Apple has also released a (PRODUCT)RED leather folio case for iPhone, which is a good compromise if you’re a fan of the color (and the cause) but are perfectly happy with your current device.

The special edition iPhones will be available to order on Apple’s online store from April 10, and will be in stores from April 13.
