Samsung might be looking to launch a “Jet Black” Galaxy S7

Clearly the iPhone’s Jet Black color popularity for the iPhone 7 has caused key Apple competitor Samsung to stand up and take note – a new report out of Korea is claiming the company will release a glossy black version of the Galaxy S7 next month.

The company no doubt wishes to plug a few gaps left behind by the discontinued Note 7, which disappeared from the market after Samsung failed to curtail the device’s tendency to overheat and catch fire.

Considering Apple’s profits gained considerably from the South Korean company’s woes, perhaps Samsung believes it’s only just it tries to recoup that back by directly mimicking Apple. However, it’s not the first time Samsung has taken influence from Apple’s color schemes – it recently introduced a pink gold shading to its devices. This new edition of the Galaxy S7 is being teased nine months following its initial release.

The report on The Investor cites “industry sources,” which also notes that alongside the matte finish of the Onyx Black shading first adopted in the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung would essentially be running its own versions of Apple’s two black options.
