Spring 2015 for Apple Watch Release

The launch of Apple’s brand new wearable device is to come during Spring says Angela Ahrendts.

Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president of retail and online stores, let Apple’s retail staff known in a video message, which included the following:

“We’re going into the holidays, we’ll go into Chinese New Year, and then we’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring.

Naturally, spring could mean anywhere between late March and June, though even the earlier date is later than anticipated. When the Apple Watch was revealed in September, they had specified ‘early next year’ as the time frame, but this window is later than some had anticipated. Originally, the release was previously thought to planned for Valentine’s Day, but it seems technical problems have led to delays and a new release window. The Watch itself is set to employ a new operating system called Watch OS. When it was originally unveiled, none of the display models were running the OS, so the delay could be down to software issues.

Apple also plans to train its retail staff to allow customers to try on and customize the device before purchase – new territory for the company – typically iPhones and iPads are stored in display cases or tethered via cables. However, it’s likely that this latest move will help in the marketing of what is a highly personalized piece of tech.
