Swing Copters – the new game from Flappy Bird developer

Earlier this year Flappy Bird stormed the App Store rankings and stayed at number one for a few weeks. However, developer Dong Nguyen pulled the app as he claimed it was “too addictive”.

Now Nguyen has released his new game Swing Copters to the App Store. Featuring more retro-style graphics and hard-as-nails gameplay, it looks likely to recapture the addictive nature of its forebear.

Rather than taking control of a bird, you now control the direction of a copter-headed sprite as it flies upwards. Tapping the screen reverses the direction of flight while you try to avoid hammers and iron girders.

If you reach certain heights you unlock additional playable characters. The game does feature adverts but an in-app purchase of $0.99/£0.69 will remove them completely.

The game is free to download from the App Store.
