VIDEO: Cook doesn’t appear concerned over retailers’ Apple Pay block

Despite some retailers ditching Apple Pay support and subsequent concerns over its future, Apple CEO Tim Cook doesn’t appear too concerned, if his interview at the Wall Street Journal’s Digital Conference was anything to go by.

Cook commented on various topics, including the upcoming Apple Watch, and fitness. But specifically – it was the reveal of certain figures pertaining to Apple Pay that seriously allayed the above concerns.

In the video below, Cook explains that within the first 72 hours following the launch of Apple’s near field communication (NFC) contactless pay technology platform, over 1 million people had activated their cards. He said this puts Apple ahead of all its competitors… combined.

Apple pay is currently only available in the US, but Cook explained Apple was “only getting started” when it comes to the contactless payment system.
