The Booqpad for iPad Air is a pretty stocky accessory, but that’s because its aim is to be a lot more than a simple sleeve or cover. It comes with a removable 50-sheet paper notepad for you to marry both your digital approach, with quick-draw tendencies. However, while there is no pen holder, it’s not clear that there’s much benefit to the notepad beyond simple doodling, as any serious note-taking will be done on the device, but its presence does give you the feeling that you’re ready for anything and have more options beyond your device, which may be prone to run out of battery.

The multi-fold folio that wraps around the polycarbonite case is made of soft materials, with something close to a suide effect, but its its magnetic enclosure which falls gently into place when closing the folio, while also lifting with ease which really makes the whole construct feel fluid and easy to use.

Booq are certainly good at designing products that pretty much think of everything. The hard case can be pulled away from the wraparound magnetic folio easily, a whole in the casing, and the folio which drops below the camera position means it’s easy to take pictures as and when without struggling with the case or folio.

But the folio really is its center-piece – its multiple folds allows the user to try out various forms, folding it in different ways to create a makeshift stand. It’s similar to the iPad’s standard case, but the polycarbonite casing adds extra protection to the whole device, and the options are far more vast. Whether you want to type with it slightly raised off of the table, or to prop it up towards the vertical while watching a video, the folio can be easily re-manipulated to achieve both quickly, meaning you’ll avoid giving yourself a stiff neck from leaning in different positions.
