When app updates appear as notifications on the Cover Sheet, you can interact with them to open the app and go directly to the update.
The quickest way to respond to these alerts is to swipe them from left to right. The word Open will appear, but you don’t have to tap it – continue swiping to open the app in a single gesture. Swiping the other way offers a Clear option.
For messages or email, swiping right to left also reveals a View option – tap this to type an immediate reply without entering the app itself.
When you’re not looking at the Cover Sheet, notifications show up as banners at the top of the screen. To quickly respond to these, swipe down to type a reply.
Sometimes, you may feel that these banner notifications are a little intrusive and get in the way of controls. To instantly hide the banner, swipe up on it – now you can get at those buttons in the toolbar.
