Swipe FAQs

What is Swipe?

Swipe is a unique magazine for iPhone users, designed to be read on your iPhone. Every issue is rammed with the very latest news, reviews, tips, and advice from our team of experts.

We may be iPhone and iPad aficionados, but this is an unofficial mag – we’re not affiliated with Apple in any way. That leaves us clear to be critical of Apple where necessary in a way that official press releases never will be. Support independent journalism!

How often is new content released?

New issues of Swipe are published every two weeks, with the exception of the Christmas period where we take an extra week off between issues.

Certain breaking news stories are published as soon as they’re written, to ensure you get a chance to read them while they’re still topical. These will be added to the News feed and may also appear in the following issue of Swipe.

How much does Swipe cost?

Currently, a subscription to Swipe Magazine costs $1.99/£1.99 monthly or $19.99/£19.99 yearly. The annual subscription works out around 16% cheaper, but either way, it’s less than $1/£1 per issue!

But you’re not limited to the new stuff. A subscription provides access to all issues of the magazine, past and present. Newer issues are accessed in the app, while older content from the archives is available in PDF format.

Can I use Swipe for free?

Sure! Stories posted to the News tab are available to everyone, ad-free, whether you subscribe or not. It’s a great way to keep tabs on the latest iPhone and iPad news, and it’s completely free.

To read full issues of Swipe in the Issues tab, you’ll need a subscription. But even non-paying users can browse the contents of every issue and even read short previews of each article to get a feel for the magazine before committing.

How does the free trial work?

If you’re a first-time subscriber, you’ll receive a free trial for a set duration. After this period, you will automatically become a paying subscriber.

If you decide Swipe isn’t for you, simply cancel the subscription using the instructions below at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You’ll still get full access to issues for the remainder of your trial period.

How do I cancel my subscription?

All subscriptions and payments are handled by Apple. To cancel or amend your subscription, head to Apple ID > Subscriptions in the Settings app on your device.  Tap Swipe and then Cancel Subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds ourselves. However, if you have a legitimate reason you can request a refund from Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com.

What happens if the subscription pricing changes?

If we ever decide to change the prices, rest assured those changes will only affect new subscriptions. Anyone already subscribed will not be affected and will remain on their existing legacy rate.

Why is Swipe taking up so much storage space?

We try to keep our content on the small side, but if you read a lot of issues the storage space soon adds up. If that ever becomes a problem, you can wipe all downloaded articles using the Clear Cache button in Swipe’s Settings tab.

Help! My device isn’t working properly!

Although we pride ourselves on our iPhone knowledge, we don’t work for Apple and we aren’t well placed to help you fix your device. Luckily, Apple runs one of the best free customer service teams in the world.

If you need help of any kind with your Apple devices, head over to support.apple.com and follow the instructions. Here you can get help via live chat, request a callback, organize a postal repair, or book an appointment in-store with an Apple Genius.

Help! Swipe isn’t working properly!

If the app freezes on you or you can’t access our content, there are a few things you can try.

First, close the app from the App Switcher and open it again fresh. If that doesn’t help, head to Swipe’s Settings tab and tap Clear Cache. Lastly, you can try deleting the app from your Home screen and downloading it again from the App Store.

If none of the above works or you’d like to report a bug, please contact our Swipe support with the details of your problem. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible, but please be aware that we’re a tiny company without a dedicated support team, so please bear with us if you don’t hear back right away.

I just wanted to tell you I love Swipe Magazine!

How very kind of you to say. If you appreciate what we do and want to support us, the best way is of course to subscribe.

Beyond that, there are other things you can do that we would really appreciate. Tell your friends about Swipe or leave us a positive App Store review. It really helps!

Will you review my app/product/service?

Maybe! We love hearing about new things in and around the world of iPhone. Drop our editor an email with the details. We can’t promise a response to every message, but if it’s a good fit for the mag we’ll take a look and write about it in a future issue.

My question hasn’t been answered. What now?

Email our Swipe support and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Once again, please be aware that we’re a tiny company without a dedicated support team, so please bear with us if you don’t hear back right away.
