More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [13 Nov 2020]

  • by

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Zenkit Chat [Free]

Zenkit Chat’s big angle is that it combines a fully featured chat app with task management (aka a to-do list), making it an interesting bet for business teams looking to coordinate on the go. It’s a snap to turn any message into a task, and then assign that task within a chat. It also ensures that any chatter surrounding a particular task stays in the same area, rather than being dispersed across multiple applications.

Game of the Week

Forager [$8/£8]

This charming open-world adventure game received a very warm reception when it landed on console and PC last year, and it makes for a surprisingly comfortable fit on iOS. While the words ‘open-world’ might not scream ‘mobile-friendly’ to you, Forager’s joy lies in the simplicity and immediacy of its build/gather/protect gameplay loop. None of the mechanics are particularly tricky to master, making this feel curiously breezy for a game with such an ambitious scale. Its top–down 2D world is utterly charming, too.

Alarmy [Free]

Why would you need a new alarm clock? Surely they’re all much of a muchness? Ah, but you’ve clearly never come across Alarmy. For those repeat sleep button offenders out there, Alarmy provides a series of ingeniously advanced solutions. One requires you to take a repeat picture before and after sleep. Take a snap of your sink, and you’ll literally have to stumble to your bathroom the next morning to shut the alarm up. There are also memory and math puzzles to solve, loud random ringtone sounds, and much more besides.
