Apps of the Week: three great apps from Mar 15, 2019

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Enso Looper [$6/£6]

Enso Looper is an unusually slick and flexible “looper” – that is, an app that lets you create music loops. You feed music in, you get a repetitive backing track out. Besides various sound effects and modifiers (you can play your music loops backwards or at different speeds, for example) it’s also possible to use your Enso loops within GarageBand and other compatible music apps.

Game of the Week

Pet Rescue Puzzle Saga [Free]

King has a new casual puzzler out, and we fear it’s probably useless to resist. Whether you take to the Candy Crush Saga maker’s saccharine presentation and in-your-face free-to-play mechanics or not, there’s no denying that it knows how to craft a compelling time waster. Once again, Pet Rescue Puzzle Saga has you matching colored baubles in a grid, but this time with doe-eyed puppies as your reward.

Medium [Free]

Fed up of fake news and brainless clickbait listicles? Medium is an online publishing platform that was set up by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams in 2012 to play host to quality long-form blog content. These days it’s full of genuinely thoughtful stuff that you simply won’t find elsewhere, and the iOS app is a fine way to consume all this unique content. There’s a free limited tier, or you can get unlimited access for $5/£5 per month.
