Apps of the Week: three great apps from May 15, 2020

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Oh Bother [Free]

Many people have been forced to work from home lately, which can create all new stresses and strains with other members of the household. The Oh Bother app seeks to mitigate those issues, allowing you to share your current status with other users. Are you botherable or unbotherable right now? Need to let your family or housemates know you’re on a video call so that they don’t go stomping through the door half-naked? Oh Bother lets you do this and more.

Game of the Week

Bombcats [$1/£1]

Radiangames is one of those firmly established iOS developers you can always rely on. Which explains why we’re interested in Bombcats, a cute and colorful physics puzzler that looks like it was lifted directly from the golden age of smartphone gaming. It’s got boggle-eyed cats that need to be pinged into piles of rocks, and looping Sonic The Hedgehog-like levels. If you find yourself pining for a simpler, bouncier, less cynically monetized period of the App Store’s life, this could be your next jam.

Shpock [Free]

Have you found yourself hard up and confined to your neighborhood of late? Us too. Shopping options have become a whole lot more limited as a result. Shpock is a well-established solution – an online yard sale app that makes local (and not-so-local) second-hand shopping much easier and hands-off. It’s like an eBay for the 21st century, with a way cleaner and more intuitive interface and built-in courier tools. Just be sure to give everything a good scrub when you receive it, hear?
