More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [March 8 2020]

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Shop [Free]

From the team behind Shopify, the tool that powers the online stores for a whole heap of small businesses, comes its very own personal shopper app. Shop is essentially a rebrand of the Arrive app, and you can still use it to track your packages. But it now adds the ability to browse new products, which have been personalised for you with no input from advertising algorithms. You can also make slick, friction-free one-click purchase, which could be just what the doctor ordered given the current social distancing conditions.

Game of the Week

Forza Street [Free]

The prospect of the very first Forza game for mobile might have Xbox racing game fans salivating. After all, the Forza series has offered some of the finest virtual racing experiences of recent years. This is no fully-fledged console racer like GRID, though, but rather a streamlined free-to-play affair in the vein of the CSR series. Still, it looks mighty pretty, and there’s a lot of satisfaction to be had perfecting its one-finger control system.

Todoist [Free]

Wunderlist has officially wrapped up, much to the chagrin of fans of clean and stylish to-do list apps everywhere. If you can’t quite bring yourself to use Microsoft To Do (the app that essentially assimilated the Wunderlist team and package), here’s a top alternative. Todoist does the whole minimalist tick-list thing in its own no-nonsense but super-stylish way, and it’s also got great project collaboration features and powerful reminders. As task managers go, its right up there with the very best.
