Apps of the Week: three of our faves from Feb 15, 2019

  • by

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found three titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention this week.

JAWS.io [Free]

This game is exactly what it sounds like – an “io” game starring everyone’s favorite cinematic monster. Sail your humble fishing boat around a bright, cartoony ocean, picking up swimmers and steadily growing in size. The game really ramps up when you collect the Jaws power-up, which turns you into the titular force of nature and sees you chowing down on rival boats. It’s a little weird, all things considered, but also a surprising amount of fun.

Linn: Path of Orchards [$3/£3]

Here’s a beguiling puzzle platformer in which the bite-sized levels shift around your lithe hero as you slide and double-jump through them. The level surface you took off from may not be so level when you land, requiring split-second decisions and nimble fingers. Linn: Path of Orchards is a real sight for sore eyes, too, with the kind of super-stylish visuals that will please fans of Monument Valley no end.

Centr, by Chris Hemsworth [Free]

Ever wanted to know what Thor does to keep fit? This new app promises to provide valuable insight into the matter. We’re talking about actor Chris Hemsworth, of course, rather than the actual Norse god of thunder. The Aussie hunk has put his name to this stylish effort, which promises to help you “Train, Eat and Live better”. It does so by roping in help from leading personal trainers, chefs, and well-being experts to formulate the ultimate personalized fitness plan.
