More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [15 April 2022]

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! App of the Week

Combivino [Free]

This app has been out for a while in its native Italy, but the new English language version could make it a breakout hit. If you’ve ever wondered about a wine or beer to pair with a certain food (or vice-versa), this is the app for you. With expert sommelier advice applied through an intuitive UI, and the impressive ability to either pair by the dish or the overall menu, it’s a food and drink lover’s dream.

Game of the Week

FurryFury: Smash & Roll [Free]

A neat turn-based multiplayer action game that combines an Angry Birds-style pinging mechanic with pool physics. Flick your conveniently ball-shaped creature into your opponent, inflicting damage and hopefully picking up a power-up along the way. FurryFury: Smash & Roll looks a treat, with a finely detailed storybook art style and distinctive monster designs.

Amazon Alexa [Free]

As tightly integrated into your iPhone as Siri is, there’s no denying that the top voice-activated personal assistant is Amazon’s Alexa. It’s used widely the world over for a whole range of tasks. Even if you’re happy with Siri in your day to day usage, the Alexa app is a great way to manage a broad range of compatible smart home devices, not to mention your Echo speakers and related Amazon services.
