More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [3 December 2021]

  • by

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Fuoco [$1.99/£1.79]

Fuoco lets you take fine control of your Portrait photos, changing the focus with a tap. It’s a great way to shift the focus to a different subject, or even have both subjects in focus. It’s also possible to change the level of the blur effect, replicating the effect that a proper aperture control has in a dedicated camera. The app is properly integrated with Photos too, so you can either choose to edit within Fuoco or in Apple’s default image management app.

Game of the Week

Downhill Smash [Free]

New from ZeptoLap and Hipster Whale – that’s the developer of Cut The Rope and Crossy Road respectively – comes this delightful casual gem, which seems to mash together several of the greatest hits of the App Store’s golden era into one package. It’s an autorunner with hints of Alto’s Odyssey, Jetpack Joyride, and Tiny Wings to be found. There’s even a little of that gleeful Angry Birds destruction in there, as you roll and smash your way down a mountain in a metal wheel.
