More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [4 March 2022]

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! App of the Week

MakeTracks [Free]

Plenty of apps promise to show you where to go, or even where you’d like to go. MakeTracks shows you where you’ve been, and makes that information into a shareable work of art into the bargain. As you move around, the app tracks you and paints a pretty trail on a map. You can then choose your theme, frame portions of your journey, and share the pretty light trails you’ve left behind.

Puzzle Quest 3 [Free]

The Puzzle Quest series is legendary for popularizing the match-three RPG battler. You’re still forming clusters of colored blocks, but these are used to form attacks in tense, tactical 1 v 1 battles. This third iteration contains all the strategic scrapping you’d expect, but with a free-to-play structure and fancy new 3D backgrounds. Puzzle Quest 3 also features PvP and real-time co-op multiplayer.

VLC for Mobile [Free]

VLC is a legendary open-source media player that grants you access to a huge variety of video and music file types. It’s not particularly fancy to look at, but it’s free and extremely functional, with full file synchronization for all the major cloud storage services. VLC also offers wide-ranging support for things like advanced subtitles, multi-track audio, and playback speed control.
