Apps of the Week: three great apps from August 2, 2019

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Flighty [$8.99/£8.49 per month]

We’ve all sat none the wiser in an airport lounge, waiting for a flight that’s many hours behind schedule. Flighty is a new flight tracker app that helps you monitor the progress of any commercially flown plane, complete with real flight map data. Enter your flight details and the app will keep you updated on its stops and expected landing time. The Where’s My Plane feature lays it all out in an easy-to-parse timeline, showing where time has been lost and gained on a flight’s route.

Game of the Week

Rolling Souls [$2/£2]

This quirky little platform-puzzler has you controlling a little 8-bit character as they move along a series of interlinked circles, collecting gems and avoiding hazards. Tap to jump in and out of the circles at the appropriate point, and make your way to the green exit circle. There’s nothing particularly new about the premise of Rolling Souls, but its circular universe certainly feels quite fresh. And of course, we’re suckers for cute one-finger puzzlers of any stripe.
