Creative puzzle sequel World of Goo 2 squelches onto iPhone after 17 years

17 years after the original captivated players with its quirky charm, World of Goo 2 has finally arrived, making its way to iPhone and iPad after releasing on PC and console last year. As ever, players will find themselves constructing bridges, towers, and other structures to guide slimy balls of goo to their goals, all while navigating the game’s whimsical and softly satirical world. This sequel expands upon the original’s physics-based brilliance, introducing new goo types to experiment with and even liquid goo, which adds fresh mechanics to the mix.

Get World of Goo 2

World of Goo comes from a world before mobile gaming was overrun with freemium trash, and feels like a throwback to an era where creativity ruled over corporate monetization, offering a complete experience without ads or in-app purchases. As such, it’s a one-off premium purchase of $10 – a a third of the price of its $30 tag on other platforms, making it an excellent value for mobile gamers.

It’s more of the same, but bigger, squelchier, and more refined – a rewarding experience for both newcomers and fans of the original. For those seeking a nostalgic yet fresh puzzle adventure, World of Goo 2 delivers a gooey delight that’s hard to resist. Oh, and if you missed the original back in 2008, Netflix subscribers can play a remastered version for free right here.
