More from the App Store – great apps you might have missed [15 Jan 2021]

Thousands of apps and games are added to the App Store each week, and trawling through them to find the good ones can be difficult. That’s where we come in! We’ve found two new titles in particular that we think are worthy of your attention, as well as a golden oldie that we reckon deserves another mention.

App of the Week

Overviewer [Free]

Working remotely has become a part of everyday life for many of us, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Overviewer appears to be specifically geared towards such a world, enabling you to live share a view of the documents in front of you through video conferencing services like Zoom. Teachers take note. And then stream them.

Game of the Week

Yankai’s Diamond [$3/£3]

Here’s yet another abstract puzzler delight from developer Kenny Sun. Yankai’s Diamond takes the familiar aesthetic from Yankai’s Triangle, Yankai’s Peak, and most recently Peak’s Edge, and applies it to a color-matching flip mechanic. Perfect for sinking into on a drab, cold winter’s day.

Kahoot [Free]

The subject of home education (see our main app pick) got us to thinking about some of the apps that have been making learning fun and accessible since way before we were all confined to our homes. Kahoot is one such app, long empowering educators and parents to construct quiz-based games that can really make the learning and revising process fun.
