Price Drop! Shazam Encore slashes price for the first time ever

Get unlimited access to Shazam with no ads – currently less than half price

Shazam is one of the early success stories of the App Store – even if you’ve never used the service, you’ve probably heard of it. What started as a basic app that could name any song you play to it has expanded into one of the most popular apps in the world. The music identification aspect is still at its core, but these days Shazam is an amazing platform for discovering new music.

If you hear something you like on the radio or playing at a bar, just hold Shazam aloft and it will identify the song – you can then make playlists based on things you’ve asked about and export them to other music services. You can also use visual recognition on posters and magazines to recognize artists, and follow the favorite music from your favorite artists for inspiration.

Basically, it’s a great service if you like music – but it does come at a cost: advertising. Shazam Encore is the premium version of regular Shazam, offering unlimited usage with zero ads. Normally it costs a fairly pricy $6.99/£6.99 to upgrade, but the app has just gone on sale for the first time ever and you can grab it for just $2.99/£2.99 right now. That’s not a subscription, by the way, it’s a one-off lifetime fee for the app.

If you’re still not convinced it’s worth the money, why not pick up the free version instead to see how you like it?

Note – this pricing is accurate at the time of publishing, but will revert to normal in the next few days. Act fast!
