Alto’s Odyssey: long-awaited ski sequel launches

  • by

Alto’s Adventure was a big hit back in 2015 (see our review) and its creators have just released a much-anticipated follow-up.

Alto’s Odyssey – $5/£5

Whereas Adventure was a snowboarding game amidst snowy mountains, Odyssey switches snow for sand in an epic journey through the desert. It’s still an endless one-tap platformer, in which timing is everything as you variously press the screen to jump ravines, wall ride up cliffs or do sweet backflips down huge dunes.

It’s hugely satisfying to rack up combo points and beat your previous best distance as you swoop through the ever-changing landscapes. And the game keeps offering up new challenges to keep players on their toes.

Alto’s Odyssey follows in the board-prints of its predecessor, meaning if you liked the first one you should like this too. Newcomers, however, will be pleased to know this is a standalone game that doesn’t require any knowledge of the first one.

This is one of the most beautiful games we’ve seen for iOS, complete with changing environments and weather effects – check out the trailer below if you need convincing.
