Putting together a jigsaw puzzle might be satisfying, but it’s also a long and arduous task. Wouldn’t taking one apart be more fun?
Therein lies the central concept of Unpuzzle. Starting with a pattern of interlocking squares, you tear them off one by one until nothing remains. Easy enough, and super satisfying – but gradually the puzzles become more complex, with rules introduced to stop you tearing things apart at random.
What results is a minimal, relaxing game that will test your logic skills more and more as ten varying mechanics gradually come into play. For an idea of the kind of mechanics we mean, check out the short promo video below for a preview of some of the game’s more inventive levels.
Unpuzzle has a perfect difficulty curve that ensures the game remains relaxing even as it gets more challenging. The developer is keen for the difficulty level to never boil over into frustration, so there are no time limits or penalties for failure, and plenty of hints available.
The game is free to download and play, with an optional $2/£2 purchase removing ads and unlocking the later levels. So if you like the sound of it, there’s no real reason not to give it a try!
