Apple support WWF with ‘Apps for Earth’ promo

To tie in with Earth Day on April 22, Apple has launched a huge week-long App Store promotion titled ‘Apps for Earth’ in support of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Apps including Enlight, Procreate and Peak, plus games such as Angry Birds 2, Candy Crush Soda Saga and Hearthstone have pitched in with exclusive bonus content available as in-app-purchases. A total of 27 apps and games are involved, many of which have temporarily changed their icons to match the green and blue color scheme of Apps for Earth. For the duration of the promo, all proceeds from these apps with go to WWF, an organization focused on the conservation of the Earth’s natural resources.

It’s great to see Apple, and so many developers, pitching in to try to make the world a better place. To see the full list of apps involved, simply open the App Store between April 15-22 and tap the Featured tab. You can’t miss it – the promotion has taken over all of the featured highlight slots.

Apple has also updated the Environment page of its website with further information on its ongoing sustainability efforts, including a video introduction to Liam, the robot tasked with dissembling and recycling materials from old iPhones.
