Apple introduces AppleCare One to simplify repair coverage

Apple has just launched a subscription bundle for AppleCare warranty that covers multiple Apple devices for a single monthly fee.

For $20/month, customers can protect up to three Apple products of their choice. They’ll get unlimited repairs for accidental damage, extended theft and loss coverage, and priority support from Apple experts. Additional devices can easily be added at any time for $6/month.

This streamlined service is an alternative to having multiple individual AppleCare+ plans, potentially saving a bit of money each month while keeping things easier to track and manage under one single, flexible plan.

Despite Apple’s claims of “incredible value,” AppleCare One isn’t always a huge bargain unless you’re covering many devices – or have a high-cost device like a Vision Pro. For a common combination such as an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, you’re only saving about $1 per month compared to individual AppleCare+ subscriptions, and there are device combinations that would actually lose you money.

That’s not to say it won’t be a good deal for you, just that the exact numbers vary a lot depending on which devices you want to cover. It’s also important to know this coverage is only for a single user (well, technically a single Apple Account). Family members would need their own separate subscriptions.

However, if you already have three or more Apple devices, the convenience of managing a single subscription rather than multiple individual ones might be appealing. Another handy feature: AppleCare One lets you add older devices up to four years old, provided they pass a diagnostic health check. This could be especially useful if you’re upgrading your iPhone and want to conveniently add an older iPad to your plan at the same time, for example.

Customers in the US can enroll from the AppleCare website or by visiting an Apple Store in person. No word yet of coverage outside the US, but we’d expect Apple to be working on a wider rollout behind the scenes, even if it takes a long time.
