Black Friday Deals: the best sales and discounts 2022

  • by

Black Friday is here! Though the sales have been ramping up all week, most retailers save the very best ones for the day itself – and they often run right through the weekend until Cyber Monday. This is the best time of the year to pick up a bargain, so let’s see what’s available for iPhone and iPad users this year.

App Store

The vast majority of apps don’t cost a penny to download, instead charging for additional content via in-app purchase or subscription. You can’t cut ‘free’ any lower, so Apple’s editors have compiled a list of some of the best in-app promotions, allowing users to upgrade their free apps to full versions at a steep discount.

Check out Apple’s full list of in-app promotions, or head to TouchArcade for a roundup of all the best discounts on paid mobile games this weekend.

Apple Store

Apple typically doesn’t discount its products for Black Friday – or ever – but it’s still taking part in the fun with a four-day shopping event. Instead of offering money off, Apple is giving away gift cards of up to $250 that can be spent on other products in the Apple Store.

Note that Apple often exempts the very latest models from these kinds of offers, so make sure you’re happy with last year’s products before being tempted by the gift card. For many, though, it’s a great way to make your money go further – especially if you were planning an Apple purchase anyway. You can explore the deals for yourself on the Apple Store website.

Amazon

Amazon is the undisputed king of Black Friday. It has thousands of deals and tends to price-match the best prices from around the web, so you can be sure you’re not missing out.

Amazon’s offerings change by the hour and differ by region, so your best bet is to get online and do some browsing yourself. You can find a full roundup of every Black Friday deal right here on Amazon’s website (or here if you’re in the UK). In particular, look out for blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Lightning deals that offer big discounts for limited periods.

iPhone Photo School

We’ve talked about iPhone Photo School before, but we’ve never seen such a big discount on their paid course. Well, not since last Black Friday anyway. Until Monday you can get a massive discount on their online academy lessons that promise to teach you everything you need to take stunning photos with your iPhone.

If you’ve got one eye on Christmas shopping, this could be a great digital gift for the amateur photographer in your life. Follow this link to sign up now.

Note that as a Photo Academy partner, we may earn a commission if you sign up via our link – at no extra cost to you. You’ll still get the best deal available.

Tips Premium

It’s important to us that the core elements of Tips & Tricks – 20 chapters of tips and all daily updates to the news feed – remain free for all users. But those who want to get even more from their devices can support us by becoming Tips Premium members, unlocking a ton of benefits including bonus content and freebies. Here’s an overview of all the perks included with a subscription.

We’re running a four-day sale for Black Friday, granting new members 50% off the cost of an annual subscription, which is already the cheapest way to subscribe. That means you’ll pay just $17.99/£17.49 for an entire year of Tips Premium.

How to redeem the offer

It’s easy! From the list below, tap on the app you’re currently using to confirm the discount via the App Store. You can then return here to enjoy your new perks and freebies from the Premium tab of the app. (If you get a blank screen, press Share > Open in Safari to fix it).

If you’re not sure which app you have, inspect the icon on your Home Screen. The iPhone versions have a white ‘notch’ at the top, while the Pro variants – you guessed it – say ‘Pro’.

If you’d prefer to pay monthly, you still can through our usual in-app subscriptions page, although please note that the Black Friday discount is only for yearly subscriptions.
