If you like games that are quick to pick up and hard to put down, new app Inner Circle – no, not the exclusive dating service – may just be exactly what you’re looking for.
The latest game from App Store veterans ZPLAY looks at first glance like a straight copy of the incredibly popular Color Switch. Upon further inspection, however, it plays more like a fast-paced circular version of Tetris. The aim is simple: tap to rotate a shrinking ring of color so its segments match those on the game’s inner circle, which itself shifts and changes to keep you on your toes. Sometimes you’ll need to swipe to speed things up, and though simple it’s all done at a pretty swift pace. Like Tetris, it’s all about quick wits and rotating objects into optimal positions before they collide. Unlike Tetris, the levels change and evolve as you get further through the game.
There are 250 increasingly difficult levels here, plus an endless mode to clock up high scores if you want to compete with your friends. Inner Circle is free, but if you find yourself getting hooked it might be worth paying the in-app purchase to remove ads so you can continue playing without distractions.
