iOS 15.4 released – big update with several new features

Apple has released iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 to the public, bringing with it several big features users have been waiting for.

First and foremost is the ability to unlock your device with Face ID even while wearing a mask. You’ll need to do some extra setup, and it’s not quite as accurate, but this could be a huge convenience for many people.

The update also brings Universal Control, which gives users the ability to use the same keyboard and mouse to operate an iPad and Mac at the same time, with seamless file transfers between devices.

Beyond that are a slew of smaller features, including vaccine records in Health, an Apple Card spending widget, customizable gestures in Notes, SharePlay integrated into Music, and secure notes in iCloud Keychain.

And let’s not forget the new batch of emojis added with this update.

As ever, you can update to iOS 15.4 or iPadOS 15.4 from SettingsGeneral > Software Update. Simply follow the instructions to download and install the update. If you have Automatic Updates enabled, you may find it has already been installed – in which case you’ll see a message stating that your device is up to date and you don’t need to do anything at all!
