Apple has released iOS 18.7.7 and iPadOS 18.7.7, and this one is strictly a maintenance update for older devices. There are no new features to play with here – just some important bug fixes you should grab ASAP if you have an iPhone or iPad that isn’t compatible with iOS 26.
Security fixes, not shiny extras
Apple hasn’t said much publicly beyond the version number and build, which is fairly typical for smaller point releases like this. When release notes are vague, it’s usually because Apple wants to get patches out before bad actors can make use of the technical details. In plain English: this update is about closing holes, not adding toys.
So while iOS 18.7.7 may not look exciting, it’s still worth installing promptly. These smaller updates often do the unglamorous work of keeping your device stable and your data a little less interesting to the wrong people.
How to update
To install the update, open Settings > General > Software Update and follow the prompts to download and restart your iPhone. If you have automatic updates enabled, it may update on its own when the conditions are right – but it’s quicker to trigger the update yourself.
