Apple has officially confirmed the date of its yearly iPhone launch event, sending members of the press invites for Monday, September 9. But even if you’re not directly invited, you can stream the show live as Tim Cook and co. unveil the iPhone 16 line and more.
This date comes slightly earlier than usual, and represents the first time Apple has booked an iPhone launch event on a Monday for 14 years – perhaps to coincide with the ten-year anniversary of the first Apple Watch. Alongssde new hardware reveals, it’s expected iOS 18 will be released to the public later the same week when the new iPhones start shipping.
It’s Glowtime
The tagline for Apple’s events usually give a thinly-veiled nod to what we should expect to see, and the “it’s glowtime” phrase used this time seems to indicate Apple is excited about the next-gen Siri coming later this year as part of Apple Intelligence. The colorful imagery seems to support the new-look Siri, too.
All that said, we’ve been under the impression that most of the Apple Intelligence features aren’t launched until October or November alongside iOS 18.1, which would mean flagship features missing from the flagship iPhones at launch. Curious.
iPhone 16 expectations
Meanwhile, there are various rumors and leaks on the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models, which are expected to feature the usual processor upgrades alongside thinner bezels, larger displays, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a new physical capture button for photographers.
You can read more about what we’re hoping to see from iPhone 16 right here.
What else?
It’s not just the iPhone 16 we’ll be tuning in for, however. Although it’s bound to be the star of the show, we’ll also see a new Apple Watch (perhaps an anniversary edition) and more info on Apple Intelligence. You can never rule out the odd surprise announcement, too.
How to watch
Apple’s September event will be streaming live around the world via Apple’s website or YouTube channel at 10 am PT (that’s 6 pm BST for any Brits reading). You can watch it via apple.com/events from almost any device with internet access, or you can find it feature in the TV app on an Apple TV.
