How to watch today’s iPhone 16 launch event

Apple’s September 2024 event is nearly upon us, with the iPhone 16 reveal (and more) just hours away.

The presentation will be streaming live around the world via Apple’s website or YouTube channel at 10 am PT (that’s 6 pm BST for any Brits reading). You can watch it via apple.com/events from almost any device with internet access, or you can find it feature in the TV app on an Apple TV.

Of course, if you can’t give up two hours on a weekday morning for a press event, stick with us for a full recap soon after things wrap up. We’ll give you all the big talking points in a 5-minute digest.

What to expect

This late in the day, it’s perhaps not worth your while re-reading the rumors – we’ll know exactly what’s up Apple’s sleeve before long anyway. But if you’re feeling impatient, here’s a quick recap.

The only thing that’s a 100% dead cert is that Apple will be unveiling iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro today. It’s likely to be a relatively small upgrade over last year’s models, with iterative improvements to the processors, cameras, and displays – plus a new ‘capture’ button for photography.

The real pull this year comes in the form of Apple Intelligence, which anyone without an iPhone 15 Pro will need to upgrade to experience when it drops with iOS 18.1 later this year. Expect Apple to talk more about AI, especially considering the “It’s Glowtime” event tagline that clearly references Siri’s new look.

Meanwhile, it’s the ten-year anniversary of Apple Watch, so we could see a much bigger upgrade on the cards there. And there’s a chance we’ll also see new AirPods on the scene, or another surprise product reveal.

Finally, this event usually dictates the timing of Apple’s software releases. We’d expect iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and the rest to release publicly in the week following the event. Stay tuned!
