Apple announces ‘Let Loose’ event for May 7, new iPads and Apple Pencil expected

Apple has announced its next product launch: a live special event on Tuesday, May 7 entitled “Let Loose.”

The name and marketing imagery for the event point pretty clearly to a new Apple Pencil, which would be the third generation of the iPad’s impressive stylus accessory. Rumors suggest the new Pencil will include Find My support, swappable tips, and a new squeeze gesture.

Beyond that, we’re also expecting to see some new iPads unveiled at the May event. We’d love to see Apple finally streamline the iPad lineup, but instead all sources point to modest upgrades for existing models instead. In particular, expect new iPad Pro iterations and the first iPad Air to boast a 12.9-inch display.

We could see more iPad-related accessories too, such as a new Magic Keyboard – a product which hasn’t had an update in four years.

As typical these days, Let Loose will be an online-only event. People around the world will be able to stream it live at apple.com or on Apple TV at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST.
