M2 MacBook Air – the latest model is now available

Pre-orders are now open for the redesigned MacBook Air unveiled last month at Apple’s WWDC.

Two new MacBooks were shown that day, in fact, with a new M2 MacBook Pro already in stores. But as we wrote when those pre-orders opened, it’s difficult to make a case for the Pro when last year’s models offer many benefits for power users with cash to burn and the new Air looking more promising for everyone else. It’s a slicker design, lighter, has a slightly bigger screen, and rocks the same M2 chip – for $100 less.

And you can buy one right now from Apple’s online store.

MacBook Air lowdown

The all-new MacBook Air is a beautiful addition to Apple’s MacBook line-up that really hammers home the Air’s USP: thinness and lightness. It features all the power of the new M2 chip and still no fans or moving parts in sight.

It offers a Liquid Retina display, a new unibody enclosure, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, and – hallelujah! – support for the recently revived MagSafe charger. Thanks to smaller bezels and that familiar notch, the Air’s display is now slightly larger at 13.6 inches.

Apple’s also added new colors to its MacBook Air line, including Starlight and Midnight, alongside the classic Silver and Space Gray.
