Apple has released a new commercial that plays out like a mini blockbuster, in partnership with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
In the epic four-minute ad – which is shot like a high budget Hollywood action franchise – Johnson is seen repeatedly chatting with Siri on his iPhone as he tries to achieve a series of life goals around his already-hectic schedule. The “movie” launched on YouTube alongside this over-the-top movie poster, which highlights just some of the crazy things crammed into the ad.
Dwayne Johnson is known for starring roles in the Fast and Furious series, as well as Disney’s Moana. He also spent many years as a professional wrestler, where he got the stage name “The Rock.” He’s a notoriously hard worker, with a huge number of side projects alongside his main career, with this new commercial riffing on Johnson’s image as “the busiest actor in the world.”
It’s an unusual partnership, but we’d wager Apple is hoping to increase the spotlight on Siri ahead of the launch of its HomePod smart speaker later this year. Whatever the intention, it’s a pretty fun ad, and you can watch it in full right here.
