Upcoming on TV+ – For All Mankind, Fireball, Oprah

Three things to look forward to as Apple expands its media portfolio.

For All Mankind S2

Apple TV+ is still a relative newcomer to the streaming market, but already a renewal of one of its best original dramas is right around the corner. A new trailer for the sci-fi show For All Mankind is out, although it seems Apple didn’t intend to reveal it quite so soon.

Until now, Apple has made a point of revealing trailers and show details itself – but this latest trailer appeared mysteriously on IMDb, leading us to believe it’s an early leak. Whatever the story, you can check it out here.

If you missed season one, For All Mankind shows an alternate history in which the Soviet Union beat the United States to the moon and the Space Race never ended.

Fireball

Meanwhile, Apple is shoring up its TV+ catalog across other genres, too. Apple has bagged the latest documentary from renowned director Werner Herzog – and it too is about space. Fireball takes a look a “shooting stars, meteorites, and deep impacts,” examining how they have affected the human race and sparked our imaginations.

Fireball is a collaboration between Herzog and professor Clive Oppenheimer and could be considered the spiritual successor to the volcano documentary they made together in 2016, Into the Inferno.

The Oprah Conversation

The Apple x Oprah train just keeps on rolling. Oprah Winfrey has filmed a third series for TV+, following on from Oprah’s Book Club and Oprah Talks COVID-19.

This latest venture is an interview series recorded remotely during the pandemic, involving a range of topical discussions with experts and “newsmakers” from various fields. First up is an episode focused on anti-racism, coming July 30.

As yet there’s no release date for the first two titles, but it seems Apple is serious about continuing to pump money into exclusives and originals for its platform.
