Best Camera Lens Kits for iPhone

  • by

No matter which iPhone you have, it’s got a pretty good built-in camera – especially so for the latest iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. For several years now the iPhone has been the most popular “camera” in the world, but the fixed lens can limit your creativity in some circumstances. Whether you’re a budding iPhone-ographer or a seasoned camera pro looking to improve your mobile shooting options, a set of detachable lenses will massively expand your photography potential.

Each camera kit in this roundup includes (at minimum) a macro lens, a wide angle lens and a fisheye lens, covering you for a wide range of shots. Each set of accessories has its own benefits, but they’re all great for one reason or another. Whatever your needs, we’re sure you’ll find something here to spice up your photographs!

Best on a budget

CamKix Universal 3-in-1 Mobile Lens Kit (£30)

For casual photographers, or those wanting to dip their toes into the camera accessories market before spending additional cash, it’s hard to beat the value offered by CamKix. Though the lenses aren’t as high quality as our other picks, the three-piece set is still pretty solid, and throws in a carry case to boot. The set is comprised of macro, wide angle and fisheye lenses. The clip-on attachment may not be the slickest, but on the plus side it’s a universal connector so you can use it with other phones and tablets, too. A total bargain.

Best for portability

Olloclip 4-in-1 Lens (£70)

For a little extra outlay you get higher quality lenses in a smart and very portable system comprising wide angle, fisheye and two different macro lenses. These attach to a clever, z-shaped mount which slots onto the top of the iPhone to cover front and back cameras. The mount holds two lenses at a time and you can switch between them by flipping the mount over. Just bear in mind it’s designed for use without a case, and is only compatible with the iPhone 6 & 6s. The Olloclip comes in multiple color options and even has a loop so you stick it on a keyring or wear it around your neck. Now that’s convenience.

Best attachment design

Ztylus Metal Series Camera Kit (£80)

This is the coolest looking kit, but also the biggest commitment, as the flip-out lens attachment works in conjunction with a bespoke Ztylus case (included). The protective case is a decent investment in itself though, with its premium matte polycarbonate and polished metal finish. Simply unscrew the removable disc on the back of the case and screw in the revolving 4-in-1 lens attachment, which includes macro, wide angle, fisheye and circular polarizing lenses. Once set up it’s super quick – and slightly James Bond – to flick between lens options, and the case is compatible with other Ztylus accessories as well.
