iOS devices are insanely powerful these days, with a host of great apps for getting work done on the go available on the App Store. You no longer need to pack a laptop to be productive on a business trip, and working on your screenplay from a small screen over a coffee is no longer a ridiculous concept.

Typing away on a touchscreen has its limits, though; for serious writing sessions nothing beats a physical keyboard. We’ve lined up a range of great BlueTooth keyboards which can easily become an extension of your iPhone or iPad – read on to see which will best suit your needs.

Best on a budget

Caseflex Ultra Slim BlueTooth Keyboard for iOS (£30)

keyboard_caseflex

This keyboard from Caseflex is one of the best value we’ve seen, and an excellent choice for those who want something that looks relatively Apple-flavored with its silver-and-white finish. It’s not the smallest or lightest of our choices here, but this is still a very portable option. It’s got nice keys and has a very high level of customer satisfaction. Little touches like the rubber feet and LED power indicator are pretty useful, too.

Best for longevity

Logitech K380 Multi-Device BlueTooth Keyboard (£35)

keyboard_k380

This pleasantly rounded design from Logitech is paired with a comfort feel and nice, responsive keys. You can have up to three devices connected at once, switching between them with the yellow function buttons, and it’s small enough to slip into a bag. According to the manufacturer, you can use this thing full-time for two years before replacing the (included) AAA batteries – impressive stuff!

Best for portability

Logitech Keys-To-Go Ultra Portable Keyboard (£55)

keyboard_keystogo

If portability is the most important factor for you, you won’t do much better than this. Super slim and super light, this keyboard will slot easily into a bag without adding any extra bulk. It’s roughly the size of an iPad Air, and a third of the weight – the lightest of our options here. It’s soft finish makes for an unusual feel, but it’s very easy to type on and it does have the added benefit of being spill-resistant. If you like to travel light, this could be the one for you.
