The Martian: Official Game is the app based on the movie starring Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars and it’s just gone free on the App Store for the first time!
The game is a great example of interactive fiction and tells the story of Mark Whitney (Damon’s character) who’s been left on Mars after his crew leaves, believing him dead. Just like the movie, the plan is to get him home.
Played in real time, your role is to chat to Mark and help him on his journey. There’ll be points where he has to go away for awhile to fix something before sending you a notification later on with how it went. It’s great fun and super immersive.
