Latest issue of Swipe: Do You Really Need A VPN?

We’ve just published the latest issue of our sister app, Swipe Magazine. It’s full of the same kind of tips and features you’ll find here, packaged neatly into fortnightly issues. There are dozens of back issues available and you can trial it completely free if you want a new way to get to know your iPhone!

Editor’s Notes

It’s now less than a fortnight until Apple’s yearly WWDC event kicks off, meaning we’ll have a ton of iOS 15 news for you this time next issue. But there’s plenty to dive into in the here and now, too.

First up is our cover story. Head to Features and you’ll find a breakdown of exactly what a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is, why you might want to use one, and what to avoid when picking one out. It’s a complicated topic, but don’t let that put you off installing a VPN – simply read our guide for an easy way to understand the pros and cons of anonymizing yourself online.

Also in Features, our lead contributor Craig got his hands on the new M1 iPad Pro and has been mightily impressed. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he thinks you need one – see his breakdown for 5 reasons to buy one and 5 reasons not to.

Reviews next, then. Here we’ve got a roundup focused on apps that help you overlay text on images. That may sound straightforward, but apps of this ilk can be notoriously scammy and irritating – so finding the diamonds in the rough is harder than it should be. Luckily we’ve done the hard work for you.

We’re also looking at a selection of apps you definitely should know about, that perhaps haven’t had the exposure they should have in Swipe. And we’ve got full reviews of three other apps to boot, including a futuristic effort that lets users play a virtual piano in augmented reality. Wow!

All that plus a jam-packed News section and five great How-To articles that might just introduce you to your new favorite app. Happy reading!
