A new issue of Swipe is now available

Swipe for iPhone is our sister app, a digital magazine from the Tips & Tricks team – and the latest fortnightly issue has just been released.

If you missed it: Swipe 3.0 is here! After 8 years and 200+ issues, we’ve redesigned the app from the ground up for a better reading experience. That includes a modern overhaul of the user interface, with an all-new News feed to ensure you won’t miss out on breaking stories between our fortnightly issues. We’ve added annual subscriptions (16% cheaper than monthly) and made our entire back catalog accessible in PDF format. Plus a whole load of boring technical updates behind the scenes so the app runs smoother than ever. We hope you like it!

Editor’s Notes

Since our last issue, Apple hosted its annual September event. You know, the platform it’s used to announce the new iPhones since more or less the dawn of time? Well, not this year. Pandemic-related delays mean we’re still waiting for a glimpse of the iPhone 12, but plenty of other stuff was announced, which means our News section is bursting at the seams. In short: new iPads, new Apple Watches, and even entirely new services from Apple. Oh, and if you missed it, iOS 14 is here.

If the more-complicated-than-ever iPad lineup is making your head spin, don’t worry. Head to our Features section for a buyer’s guide that clearly outlines the differences between Apple’s five current-generation tablets, and how to figure out which one is right for your needs. We’ve got a similar Apple Watch comparison coming next issue, so if you’re on the fence about the wearable, hang tight for that.

Our main Reviews roundup and cover story this week looks at apps that make fitness fun. These range from games in which exercise is a mere side-effect to innovative sports tracking apps with a competitive edge. With more people than ever trying to stay fit without relying on the gym, these apps may just be what you need to stay motivated.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Swipe without our How-To section, which this issue looks at even more iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 additions along with some absolutely classic tips for making the most of your device.
