Welcome to #200 – a note from the editor

Can you believe Swipe Magazine has been around for eight whole years? I personally joined the team in time for issue #66 and have been editing the magazine since issue #122, but some of our contributors have been around since the very start.

During that time we’ve tested and reviewed hundreds upon hundreds of apps. To commemorate this huge milestone we’ve been reading through the archives to dig out our favorite reviews of all time. Head to the Reviews section to see which apps and games felt special to our writing team over the years.

Rest assured we’re not just looking back this issue – our lead Feature instead casts itself into the future as it ponders what Apple may be doing in another eight years, when Swipe hits issue #400.

Meanwhile, there’s been a lot going on in the world at the moment. The Coronavirus pandemic is far from over, and meanwhile the recent killing of George Floyd has brought racial injustice into uncomfortably sharp focus for many of us.

Swipe is an iPhone magazine; we’re far from qualified to discuss serious news events. But I’d like to echo the sentiments of Tim Cook when he says we must all aim for a future that “lives up to the highest ideals of equality and justice.” Black lives matter.

That said, our News section this issue sticks to what we know – iPhone rumors and recent Apple stories.

Aside from our special issue #200 features we’ve got a whole bunch of reviews and How-tos for you to dig into. But you knew that, right?

We have big plans for 2020, with an app redesign in the works to ensure Swipe users get the best experience possible when reading our content.

Here’s to the next 200 issues!
