Editing Live Photos: how to trim and adjust | iOS 12 Guide

Live Photos were introduced in 2016 and – on compatible iPhones and iPads – capture a few seconds of movement alongside each photograph. There are several ways you can edit these photos.

Remember, you can ensure Live Photos are switched on by tapping the concentric circles icon at the top of the screen when Camera is open.

To edit a Live Photo, find one in the Photos app and tap Edit. On this screen you’re presented with the timeline of the clip. You can swipe your finger across the timeline to scrub through different frames of the Live Photo. Choose your favorite still and tap Make Key Photo to assign this frame as the main static part of the photo.

You can also trim the video by moving in the arrows on each end of the timeline. You can also add filters and crop the image in the same way as any other photo.
