Look Around lets you explore a detailed virtual version of a city, viewing the streets from a human perspective. This can help familiarize yourself with a location much better than standard top-down aerial views can.
Note: this feature is currently limited to just a few major cities. If your hometown isn’t available, try San Francisco, Las Vegas, or Honolulu.
Open Maps and head to a city. Zoom in to the area you want to explore. When you get close enough, a binoculars icon will appear in the top left. Tap this to activate Look Around mode. An interactive first person view of that location will appear over the map view.
Touch and drag the Look Around window to move your view, or swipe over the map to move your viewpoint to another area. Pinch to zoom for a closer look at the details.
For a fully immersive experience, tap the maximize button in the top left of the Look Around window to bring it full screen. You can then virtually walk the streets by tapping in the direction you want to move. Awesome!
