Apple’s iPhone includes a handy feature to help you find your parked car, automatically dropping a pin in the Maps app when you leave your vehicle. Whether you’re in a sprawling parking lot or a new city, the feature marks your car’s location so you can easily navigate back. You don’t need any special technology to make it work, although you will need a car with a Bluetooth stereo or CarPlay, as iPhone uses that connectivity to figure out when you’re in your car.
To find your parked car, just open the Maps app and look for the Parked Car marker under Siri Suggestions. Tapping it will display your car’s exact location and offer walking directions. The feature works seamlessly without needing to remember to mark your spot manually, and if you regularly park in the same spots at home or work, the iPhone is smart enough to recognize these places and won’t place a marker for those locations.
Although it should work automatically, there are some things you can check if it’s not working. Ensure that your iPhone is paired correctly with your car’s Bluetooth or CarPlay and that Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services and Settings > Apps > Maps > Show Parked Location are both enabled.
If you don’t want the iPhone to track your parked car, you can disable the feature from the Settings menu mentioned above, or remove a specific marker by long-pressing on it in the Maps app and selecting Remove Car.
